Most people seem to only quote the same **** they see on TV when talking about healthcare. You know, *nobody* seems to realize the real problems in healthcare. Let me explain.
Did you know there's a limit (cap) to the number of medical school graduates? Did you know there's a limit to the number of residencies? There's why we have a shortage of physicians. You can thank the politicians in the 80s and 90s for that. They honestly thought we'd have too many physicians...haha.
Did you know that malpractice insurance can sometimes run close to 100k or more? You can thank lawyers and people wanting to make a quick buck for that.
These problems aren't strictly related to physicans and their practices. There's also a shortage of allied healthcare instructors and clinicals.
So, why the hell isn't the government focusing on these issues? The issue of caps could be solved by simply removing them and allowing hospitals and medical schools to operate as they did prior to the 1980s. More restriction on lawsuits could solve the issue of high-cost malpractice insurance.
Instead of talking about these issues, I hear democrats pushing for universal healthchare and republicans whining about how it won't work. Why don't we get to the meat of the problem?

you make some good points, the tough one is lawyers and lawsuits,
those guys will fight tooth and nail before they budge on a "good"
thing.

government will never focus on the real issues such as you point out mal practice insurance is way too high, hospitals have a bad habit of over charging, ever notice that if you say I don ot have insurance you get a cheaper rate? the list goes on and on and unchallenged

Doctors and nurses should be paid well, but their pay has gotten out of hand. I can remember many years ago my regular physician charged 25.00 for an office visit and from October to end of the year he charged only 5.00, because he said the government was just going to get it and rather his patients have it. This happened for several years that I know about.
Doctors practice too much of defensive medicine because of
malpractice and then Blue Cross Insurance where I live is known to be one of the highest paying employers, next to all the medical centers. It all has to end somewhere, sometime.
